TIE-DOWN STRAPS
During transportation, forces act on the load, especially during braking. As much as 80% of the weight of the load moves forward during braking. 50% of the weight breaks out to the left, right, and rear. An anti-slip mat (with a coefficient of friction of at least 0.6 μ) has a significant effect on the behaviors of these forces.
An example based on a load of 8,000 kg (center of gravity in the middle of the load).
Metal on wood
80% of 8000 kg 6400
0,4 μ (coefficient of friction) x 8000 kg 3200
Total forces to be absorbed: 3200
The necessary amount of tie-down straps*:
3200: 320 = 10 tie-down straps
*To know the amount of tie-down straps, divide the total forces to be absorbed by the pre-tensioning force (Stf) of the tie-down strap.
Metal on anti-slip mat
80% of 8000 kg 6400
0,6 μ (coefficient of friction) x 8000 kg 4800
Total forces to be absorbed: 1600
The necessary amount of tie-down straps:
1600 : 320 = 5 tie-down straps
