Lifting chains consist of a top link at the top, optional shortening hooks, the chain itself, and lifting hooks at the bottom. The top link is attached to the crane hook of the hoisting mechanism, while the lifting hooks are connected to the load. There are both single chains and multi-leg chains (2, 3, and 4 legs). The advantage of multi-leg chains is that they allow the load to be lifted more evenly. Shortening hooks make it easier to lift a load horizontally and stably.
